"We can only start from where we are.  While this may seem obvious, it is just this obvious fact that we tend to overlook.  We want to start at the 'right' time and place-- which usually turns out to be some time in the future and someplace else.  Given this tendency, it is not surprising that so many of us never even start."

Let My Clients Tell You How I Helped Them

Jean Ann worked with employees from our company, the United States Enrichment Corporation (USEC) located in Piketon, Ohio who were impacted by various reductions-in-force. Being from our area as well as having an outgoing personality, Jean Ann was able to relate to what our employees were going through, and put them at ease in working with them. She prepared them to begin their job searches and how to positively promote themselves in their interviews. Her presentations and workshops for our employees were also well prepared and very informative for them. She interacted well with our Career Resource Center representatives, which was an added bonus for USEC as well as our employees, as they worked as a cohesive team. I would recommend Jean Ann to other companies that are facing the same reduction circumstances that we were going through, as I can confirm that she was a true asset to us. ~Anita L. McGinnis; Career Resource Center and Displaced Worker Coordinator, United States Enrichment Corporation

Jean Ann is the assessment queen!  As a coach, I learned a great deal from her teleclasses on the DISC basics and immediately used the information to present at my first management training session.  I now use the DISC with all my clients.  Jean Ann's light-hearted manner coupled with her heavy-insight into "the who" helped me take another step toward my greatness. THANK YOU, JEAN ANN for making it more fun to be me!!!! ~Shandel Slaten; Principal, True Life Coaching. Seattle, Washington

Although I had already chosen a major in speech and language pathology, working with Jean Ann helped to affirm my decision—especially as I approach six years in a particularly difficult program that many people leave because of the amount of work involved.  The fact that my career choice matches up so well with my abilities—high specialist and introvert with strong classification abilities and low idea productivity—explains why I’ve never been excited about going in any particular direction until I chose this field. I now feel even more confident as I continue on in a difficult program.  Jean Ann's insight and the Highlands test told me things about myself that I never really thought about before but now can see to be true. It helped me realize how the things I’ve always seen as negative—like low idea productivity and introversion—can work to my advantage and be positive.  I particularly appreciated the in-depth information given on my styles and abilities, as well as suggestions on how to use my abilitiesnot only in the work environment (in resumes, for example), but also in a classroom environment.  I have some completely clueless college friends that I really wish would give this a try!  ~Abigail Dickerson.; student, Marshall University

Jean Ann took the so-so resume of a recent college graduate and polished it to give me the confidence I needed to begin my job search. She helped me find the precise words to describe myself in terms of the position I was seeking and showed me things that I could eliminate to make it more readable and meaningful to my target employers.  She also showed me how to write a cover letter that would address my strengths in terms of the job for which I was applying. In the end I got the graduate assistant position I wanted even more than a job in pharmaceuticals. Going through the resume coaching was a valuable experience that paid off. ~Joseph H.; G. A. Microbiology, Miami U

We appreciate Jean Ann’s timely response to our assessment needs for individuals wanting to make a new start by enrolling in our programs.  I can count on her to be prompt in returning my calls, efficient in conducting the assessments and reliable in her follow through. She is always very professional and trustworthy about her work, while maintaining a pleasant manner and sensitivity to the individuals whom she is testing. ~Joyce Campbell-Goddard; Owner and FAA, Paramount Beauty Academy; Paramount Institute of Esthetics

Going through a complete ability assessment with Jean Ann was a welcome graduation gift.  I was headed toward college undecided about a major.  The information provided in the feedback helped me to understand something I had always realized about myself but didn’t know how to put into words: I much prefer to work independently, even though I like to be around people socially.  I never could make sense of those seemingly opposite aspects of my personality until I took the Highlands.  Now I know that I’m a strong Specialist with medium extroversion. I will be happiest in a career in which I can develop a level of expertise from which I can interact professionally with others.  I also learned that I am most efficient when learning from a visual mode.  When asked in a college class one day about our preferred learning styles, I was the only student who could respond--all because of the Highlands Ability Battery! ~Noel Hoskins; Student, Shawnee State University

Jean Ann, your career presentation for our senior-level economics majors and members of our college-wide academic honor society was exactly what they needed to hear at exactly the time they needed to hear it.  Students have commented that they very much enjoyed your presentation.  You gave them much to think about.  Thank you for working with our students!  ~Harlan M. Smith II, Ph.D.; Professor of Economics, Lewis College of Business, Marshall University

I very much appreciate the improvements in wording, formatting and presentation you suggested for my resume.  Since I made those changes, I have received several compliments on my resume from job interviewers. The tips about how to respond to illegal questions without offending the interviewer have also been useful.  Your help has given me added confidence in my job search.      ~Michael Tallerico; Graduate, DeVry University

Your assistance with my resume and the coaching you gave me was invaluable. Following two interviews the company offered me entrance into their 18 week Management Training Program and I have accepted. After successfully completing the training I will be given a management position.  I am very excited about the opportunity to make this mid-career change and give you all the credit in getting me ready for it.  ~T.H. mid-ife career changer
